Strong Passwords and Keeping your Accounts Secure

We know passwords can be inconvenient and are often a nuisance to keep track of, but they are the first stop in keeping information safe.

Use these helpful tips to make sure you are doing the best you can to protect your accounts!

hackerA strong password:

  • Is at least eight characters long.
  • Does not contain your user name, real name, or company name.
  • Does not contain a complete word.
  • Is significantly different from previous passwords.
  • Contains characters from each of the following four categories:
    • Uppercase letters (A,B,C)
    • Lowercase letters (a,b,c)
    • Numbers (0,1,2)
    • Symbols or spaces (!@#)

Writing down your password is just inviting the wrong person access into your information. Try to pick a phrase that is meaningful to you and adjust it to meet the above criteria. This is a great way to remember your password without writing it down!
